Bakelite binocs, pretty cool BARQs's case is the right type for the cxn bakelite binocs I want to get a period strap and eye protector for these, I believe the rubber eye protector is 'correct' for theseBeautiful set of cxn's. My dream binos. I agree, rubber ocular lens cover should be correct.

Scott, another nice set. The police stuff is interesting, too. Here is a set I picked up in the last couple months. It is a pretty normal set of Zeiss 6x30 Dienstglas. Someone defaced the 'Dienstglas' marking. But what makes them interesting is clear evidence of shrapnel splinters entering the body and bouncing around inside.

Dienstglas 6x30 of SWAROVSKI/Tirol/Austria, marked with 'cag' production code and serial number 165488. Its complete with bakelite cover. D d x VOIGTLAENDER & SOHN, A.G. BRAUNSCHWEIG GERMANY d k l JOSEF.

There is still some trapped inside. The binos function perfectly, though! I have to wonder if someone was wearing these on their chest when it happened. If the binos got these two splinters, I doubt he fared very well.

The entry of the shrapnel is consistent with them being on a strap on the chest.who knows. Sparks the imagination, for sure. Jeff Last edited by ditch68; at 05:29 PM. Reason: Spelling. Here is my Zeiss.
